Wood stork!
I saw one and I simply must tell you about it
Look, I get it, you only expect one post a month from me. That’s all I promised you when you signed up, and maybe that’s all you want.
But if you’re like me, or if you like me, perhaps you’re wanting more.
More!
ALL THE TIME MORE!
Well, that’s flattering, and weird, but regardless, here I am with more smoking hot content for you. And when you see what that content is, I do believe you’ll say why thank you, Adam. You were right to send this to my inbox.
Or, however you would express such a sentiment in your own words. I would never pretend to be able to speak for you, you unique and magnificent shining star.
(leans in, kisses reader right on forehead).
Anyways, THE STORY of the 2025 Colorado birding season—indeed, one could even argue the North American birding story of the year!—is the appearance of a wood stork in Colorado. You see, one hasn’t been spotted in Colorado in over 91 years. If you want to even see one on this continent, you have to get to Mexico, or Florida, their endemic habitat. Then a few weeks ago one just up and shows up in Denver! Then it moved onto the suburbs of Denver. Where it’s been cold chilling ever since.
What gives? An aberration? A lost traveler? A confused juvenile?
All good theories.
But here’s the thing. Another one has been spotted in Wisconsin. Ding-dang Wisconsin! So, maybe their migratory patterns are changing. Maybe we’re witnessing two brave pioneers, forging new suitable breeding grounds for the entire species!
Time will tell.
As for now, all we know is that I saw that wood stork today. Out in Broomfield, at Alexx and Michael’s Pond. Yes that’s the official name of the pond. I don’t know either.
When my wife and I arrived, the stork was resting on one leg on the eastern banks of the lake. Then, after some nearby pelicans began stirring on the water, then took off to stretch their wings, the wood stork joined them, riding the thermals over the lake for a good ten minutes, before taking off, heading due south.
Will it be for good? Is it time for our friend to move on from this new-fangled Colorado terrain? Perhaps. Maybe it was just checking out some other stuff in the area, and will be back to the lake soon. It’s been there for weeks.
Regardless, I was thrilled to see it. And I got this video to share with you.
Sorry to invade your inbox, but I hope you found it worth it.
But hey while I’m here I’ll tell you that tickets are now available for Omaha, Vermont, and Houston!
Hop on those tickets now, pretty please, and tell any friends you have in the area!
Good day over here. Good day, indeed.

I find this much more exciting than Oasis TBH.
Soooo cool! Love it!
