Brilliant ending. The shift from expecting kids to be mini-you's to letting them steer is such a hard-earned parenting lesson, and the stock show failure captures it perfectly. The cognitive dissonance bit about protesting ICE then watching cowboys hurt cows nails something most people won't admit about regional identity. We carry these weird cultural inheritences whether they make sense or not,and pretending we don't is just performative.

Didn’t think it was possible at that young age, but Malcolm may be even funnier than his father. Clearly he is superior in at least intelligence and class, if not funnier *insert SpongeBob fancy pants gif*
FYI “Chipotle” and “Macy’s” were my laugh out loud moments. Chipotle might be the best (only?) joke I’ve seen about architecture. I feel exactly the same about stock show…still take my kids (12 and 9) every year and plan to continue until they or we decide the dissonance is too much—though I pray to our one and only Lord and savior that that never happens ;) My son ran the mutton bustin circuit in 2021 and took home (i) that 4 ft trophy they give out to EVERY kid AND (ii) our first batch of covid for the entire family! We were the only mask wearers in the entire building and still got it 😂I don’t regret it, the whole thing was so hilarious and memorable. But I will say buckle up for the fine print on the required waiver (must be notarized) to get your kid on that sheep. Not for the faint of heart, but that dirt out there is soft and deep as Caribbean beach sand. Just darker, and full of shit and dip spit. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right cowboy?! Congrats on the film, can’t wait to see it. Go Stars 🌟
